Elias M. Rangamar, the fest chairperson said the tournament which will start on Dec. 27 is open to boys and girls 18 and under years old.
The sports fest will have two divisions—the 14-and-under and the 18-and-under from schools and youth clubs.
In his letter to coaches, Rangamar said the Christmas Basketball Jam is an effort to promote healthy lifestyle among youths. This, he said will help keep them youths occupied during the holiday season.
“We are encouraging all schools and clubs to participate,” Rangamar tells the coaches and managers.
The tournament will be held at the Gilbert C. Ada gymnasium from Dec. 27 to Jan. 3.
Each age bracket will be filled by teams on a first-come, first- serve basis, so Rangamar is asking the coaches and managers to turn in the registration forms as soon as possible.
He announced that team rosters must be submitted no later than Dec. 18 when coaches meeting will be held at the Ada gym at 4 p.m.
Late entries will be accepted after the deadline but on a space availability basis.
Once forms are received and fees of $30 per team are paid, a schedule will be drawn up.
The participating teams will be contacted and given a copy of the tournament brackets with game schedules.
Rangamar is also asking the participating teams to make all checks payable to the office Division of Sports & Recreation.
All forms and rosters may be submitted via emails, [email protected] or [email protected].
“We have made every effort to make our tournament enjoyable for all youngsters, teams, parents and fans… Our primary goal of this tournament is to provide good competition, good sportsmanship and most of all friendship,” Rangamar said.
