CNMI national golf team organizers to meet tonight

Refaluwasch Golf Association president Jordan Kosam in a statement yesterday said the formation of the CNMI golf national team will be the main agenda of the meeting at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym conference at 6:30 tonight.

The meeting, he said will “highlight” CNMI Golf National athlete requirements in order to be part of the 2009 Pacific Mini Games that will be held in Rarotonga, Cook Islands on Sept. 21.

CNMI golfers’ associations have joined to form national golf team which the Pacific Mini Games will have for the first time.

Kosam has earlier told Variety that they will conduct a two-day try out in scouting or bring up at least five potential golfers who will form the CNMI team.

Interested individuals, he said are invited to attend the urgent meeting tonight.

“Our goal is to come up with a CNMI National Golf Team and coordinate the efforts to represent the great CNMI in the upcoming mini games,” Kosam said.

Time is of the essence, he added, as “it’s important that we meet and discuss urgent issues and focus our efforts getting the team to Rarotonga.”
