Rezne Wong and Kailan Staal both received two gold medals from their respective events, followed by another set of medals from Shin Kimura and Grace Kimball.
Wong finished first in the men’s 100 meter freestyle with 54.79 seconds, as well as the 200 meter butterfly, where he finished with 2:15.09.
Staal received his gold from the men’s 50 meter breaststroke event, where he was trailed by Dane Bishop from the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Staal took the gold once again in the 50 meter backstroke. Fellow CNMI swimmer Kensuke Kimura trailed Staal in the event, where he received a silver medal.
Shin Kimura earned his gold medal from the men’s 400 meter freestyle event, while Kimball place first in the women’s 400 meter freestyle.
Michael Moran also attained a bronze medal after finishing third with 1:00.04 in the 100 meter freestyle with Wong.
Staal, Wong, Kensuke Kimura, and Shin Kimura dominated together in the men’s 400 meter freestyle relay.
As of noon yesterday, the CNMI swim team earned the most medals among the other CNMI teams, winning 15 gold, 6 silver, and 5 bronze.
