Co-ed football set for next week

Registration started yesterday, where new and interested players are encouraged to sign up and play.

The SCFL is looking forward to a total of eight teams – two more than last season’s. This season’s upcoming teams currently have ample amounts of slots for players who want to join the league. Registration will be on-going until the kick-off date.

The league will go on for 14 weeks, with games played at the Commonwealth Ports Authority Field every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 5 pm.

This will be the first time that the SCFL has hosted two consecutive co-ed seasons in the same year. The last SCFL event was hosted last spring.

The Northern Mariana Islands Football Association held the very first co-ed football league three years ago.

According to league coordinator Jhie Vallo, the season was purposely started to “motivate fun and fair play,” especially for players who love soccer and want to try out the sport.

Vallo noted that the league is looking to an increased amount of 150 players this season, compared to the 120 that participated last spring.
