Continental donates prizes to NMC golf tournament

In addition to cash and other in-kind prizes, first place winners of the tournament will also win roundtrip airfare tickets to Cairns, Manila, or Palau.

The plane tickets have been donated by Continental Airlines in support of the tournament that will be held on June 13.

The tournament aims to raise critical funds to advance post-secondary educational opportunities for CNMI students.

The tournament is set to be a one-day event. Show time is 6 with a shotgun start at 7 a.m.

“I encourage all golfers to come out on Saturday to play for a very worthy cause,” said NMC Foundation President Ben Babauta.

“We’re targeting 120 golfers, which will make for a great field in one of the finest tournaments of the season.”

“To assist in achieving this, the entrance fees have been set a very reasonable $85 for registrants,” Babauta added.

The cash prizes for the top winners of the six flights are $500 for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place. Hole-in-one prizes include $25,000 cash and a 2010 Mazda 3. In all, there’s more than $80,000 worth of possible prizes.

To register to play, stop by Triple J Motors , the Laolao Bay Golf Course, or the NMC Cashier’s Office to complete a registration form and pay the $85 entrance fee. Registration forms can also be found on www.nmcnet.edu.

The NMC Foundation is a non-profit organization whose goal is to raise funds to support the Northern Marianas College, the CNMI’s lone post-secondary educational institution.
