BLACK 8 Ideal Signs Rustler continues to hang on to second place in the Tuesday division leaderboard of the 2025 SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League with an improved total of 83 wins after defeating Black 8 Crooked Arrow, 8-5, Tuesday night at the Black 8 Pool Bar.
Rustler established control early, with Chester Hamoy and Rowel “Cobra” Mariano claiming the first two games of the opening Singles 8-Ball set, defeating their opponents with three and seven balls untouched, respectively. Although Crooked Arrow’s Rey Hermogenes triumphed in the third game to deny a sweep, Rustler’s Jerry Tiu snatched the fourth to keep the team in front.
Rustler then carried their momentum into the Partners 8-Ball set, where Hamoy and Albert Pangilinan, along with Tiu and Robert Sanciangco, secured a 2-win sweep to stretch the lead to 5-1.
Back in singles action, Crooked Arrow began to find their stroke, but it was too late. Only Ken Chen and Hermogenes came out victorious, allowing them to split the second Singles 8-Ball set, 7-3.
Crooked Arrow could not avoid defeat but went down fighting, as Hermogenes and Tiu split the second Partners 8-Ball set before John Magofna and Rex Tasi paired up to collect the final Partners 8-Ball game, softening the blow before bowing to Rustler, 8-5.
Hermogenes also tallied one “Run the Rack” for the record books.
Joining the winner’s circle were the Last Shot Hobbies Sharks, who continue to dominate the standings with 96 wins after outscoring Last Shot Golden Breakers, 9-4.
