Cruz, Camacho, Talavera are 2008 ‘monarchs’ of the lanes

Zack Cruz defended his place in the Bing Energy Drink Prince/Princess of the Lanes, beating Raphael Zapanta by narrow gap during the six-game final roll off last Jan. 11.

Yho Villavicencio and Raphael Zapanta were ranked as No. 1 bowlers based on Saipan Bowling Association’s bowlers’ ranking system.

Talavera started slow in Game 1 and Game 2 as he went behind Raymond Angeles by a wide gap. But he rampaged in Games 3, 4 and 5, and went on with his winning strikes from Game 7 all the way to the final one to score a total of 1,859 points.

Angeles was just over 50 points behind, settling for the second place, with Raul Dumapit trailing third with 1,744 points.

Camacho scored the lowest score only in Game 1 but left everybody behind as the final roll-off went on. She scored consistently high from Game 3 to Game 8 and eked out a total of 1,449 points.

Ron Cal placed second with a 1,376 points and Yho Villavicencio placed third with 1,434 points.

In the Bing Energy Prince/Princess of the Lanes, a twist of fate occurred in Game 3 as Angeles who led in Game 1 and 2 lagged and failed to recover favoring Cruz in the end.

Leeanne Yarobwemal settled for third place with 946 points and JD Torres placed fourth with 931 points.

Cruz also won the Step Ladder finals scoring 188 points defeating Yarobwemal who finished only with 118 points.

Cruz took the first step by beating JD Torres, 174-165 while Yarobwemal defeated Raphael Zapanta, 199-153.

Leading the top qualifiers, Cruz brought home $225; Yarobwemal $125; JD Torres $90 and Raphael Zapanta, $80.
