DCCA puts a clamp on ARFF’s offense during the second half of the game and Peter Camacho finished with 28 points including his five free-throw shots.
The game went close in the last part of final quarter as DCCA clinging only to 80-78 lead with only a few minutes left in the ball game.
Ponce Rasa rampaged in the second quarter and helped DCCA keep the lead with his 21 points.
In the first quarter, Iginoef scored seven points and Janna Young set the two-point lead with a three point shot at the end of the quarter.
Peter Camacho went into shooting spree and Rasa helped stretch the lead to nine in the second quarter.
ARFF’s Jeffrey Quitugua scattered 16 points in the third quarter and kept the gap narrow down to one point when DCCA’s Camacho completed his two free throw shots in the minute of the quarter. He finished with 34 points.
Quitugua fired a three-pointer in an attempt to close the lead again but Rasa and Camacho took turns in pouring ARFF with perimeter shots before Iginoef fired the winning shot for DCCAs’ 82-80 victory.
CHC 70, MBI 66
Height advantage prevailed during the second game as Commonwealth Health Center defeated Marianas Brokers Inc., 70-66.
Ben Lisua scattered and Edgar Pangelinan scattered 21 points each in the court leading to CHC’s third win.
Joe Tudela made the most out of his height and towered both courts to help set the six-point lead in the first quarter.
Ivan De Vero matched his opponents’ height edge with speed and zoomed MBI past CHC in the second quarter putting up a three-point lead. MBI protected this lead with a series of steals and De Vero completed two breakaways towards the end of the second quarter.
MBI would have turned the game around in the second half if not to an error in ball possession which allowed Joe Tudela to break away for an easy lay up.
Lisua moved ahead with his scoring spree, as Pangelinan added six and Tudela four more points in the fourth quarter.
