DCCA nips BoG in opening playoffs, 83-82

Player no. 7 of DCCA, Elias Rangamar, did not know that his last three-point shot on the board would be the winning moment for his team.

Rangamar told Variety that his first impression after sinking a two-pointer, DCCA would only tie with BoG in the game.

But when his teammates came running for him, jumping on him, and tapping him on the back, he realized he just made his team won over the Garapan bankers.

Rangamar was not even the highest scorer for DCCA, in fact he is the second highest scorer for the team wherein he share the spot with Taj Van Buren with a score of 15 points each.

DCCA’s Peter Camacho fired a total of 26 shots, which for obvious reason, did not go to waste because DCCA got what it wanted – its first win in the playoff series.

Rangamar made a three-point shot in the opening salvo that helped boost DCCA’s determination to secure the match.

He repeated this feat in the second and fourth quarters of the game.

In the final minutes of play, BoG practically had the game for itself with one point lead against the government agency.

BoG was trying to protect its lead at 82 as DCCA was scrounging for some scores down the line with 80 points in its pocket.

But BoG somehow failed to shield its zone from a three-point shooter Rangamar in the final minutes, thus sending DCCA to the top with no more recourse for BoG to rebound the ball and shoot back with a quick two-pointer.

James Villacrusis crafted 35 points on the board for BoG but this fell short of making the team come out as a winner.

DCCA is now waiting in line on whom to pit against in a match between PTI and Tinian tomorrow at 7 p.m.
