THIS year’s Super Bowl was a lopsided affair, with the Philadelphia Eagles outclassing the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22, as local fans packed bars and hotels hosting several watch parties on Monday.
For Super Bowl 59, Marpac and Current CNMI partnered with several bars and hotels, including the Aqua Resort Club, Marianas Beach Resort, World Resort, VFW, and the Pacific Islands Club Saipan.
Reymark Castro, PIC sports, entertainer and activities manager, said their Charley’s Cabaret’s watch party was sold out.
“Charley’s is known to be the Chiefs’ home, there are some die-hard Chiefs in there. But right now, we cannot really scream for the Chiefs because the Eagles are killing everything today,” Castro said.
He had been an Eagles fan for years, but with the Chiefs attempting a three-peat, he decided to root for them.
“OMG it was a bad choice. I feel good about the turnout, but I’m not feeling good about the game.” Castro said.
Another fan was having a good time and smiling throughout the watch party at Charley’s Cabaret. “The Kansas City Chiefs have won twice already, and I always go for the underdogs so this year I went for the Eagles,” said Palik Thompson.
