Both teams started at a steady pace, with all players making careful forehand passes. Eagle’s Brandon Chargualaf drew first blood with two successive spikes, earning his team a couple points.
The first set speeds up as both teams deliver swift overhand serves, especially from the Eagles’ side of the court. Chargualaf is accompanied by Dae Min Jeon at the Eagles’ front row as both players overpower the Sharks with their spikes.
The Sharks strike on the defense, as Michelle Masga saves her team from incoming kill attempts. The Eagles made 20 points during first set while the Sharks struggled eight points behind them. The Sharks were stopped in their tracks after a final spike from Jeon, losing 25-17 in the first set.
Both teams played similarly during the second set, with the Eagles soaring to 12 points. Chargualaf and Jeon continued their barrage of spikes, which neatly tore through the Sharks. After a few spikes from Noel Miguel the Eagles struck for a final kill, beating the Sharks by 25-16.
Prior their loss, the Sharks pulled a stunning win after defeating the Eagles in their junior varsity game yesterday.
While caught at several deadlocks, the Sharks managed to edge their opponents by 15-11 in the third set.
Calvary had a good start early in the game, gaining a 6-9 lead against the Eagles. While the Eagles tied the scores at 17-17, Shark’s Zion Alamer jumps to the rescue and saves his team. The Eagles soon ruled the court by 25-21 after Shark’s Cheny Rhoo missed a bump pass.
The Sharks hammered their opponents for an 11-3 lead during the second set. They overcame the Eagles with the help of Alamer, winning by 25-20.
