THE Easy Riders are the team to beat in the 2023 Saipan Magalahi Eagles Club Invitational Basketball League as they remain undefeated with a 6-0 record after outplaying Eats Easy-The Game, 78-61, in a makeup game Saturday at the Gualo Rai basketball court.
The Easy Riders found their rhythm early in the opening quarter with Frank Ferrer drawing a handful of fouls while delivering a pair of triples to score 12 points and help give his team a double-digit lead, 24-11.
Eats Easy-The Game recovered in their transition to the second canto, relying on Ervin Villarin’s ability to finish at the rim.
But the Easy Riders maintained the comfortable distance with teamwork as Craig Padayao and Andrew Ashburn joined the fray with four and eight points to retain the lead, 48-34.
More of the same was seen throughout the second half of the game.
Villarin stayed at the forefront for Eats Easy-The Game, but the Easy Riders’ George De Guzman and Raymond Velasco stepped up to secure the win, 78-61.
Legends Team vs San Antonio Market-Lakay
The Legends Team outscored San Antonio Market-Lakay, 87-69.
The Legends started strong with James Abuy and Ed “Pittbull” Guinto as the leading scorers in the first half while teammate Marlon Binuya took over in the second canto to give the Legends control, 40-28.
Lakay picked up the pace in the second half with Julius Domine and JR Torres lighting up the scoreboard. But their output wasn’t enough to prevent the Legends from sealing the deal, 87-69.
