The Managahas put up a two-point lead ahead of the Mythicals by the end of the third quarter, following two free throw shots from Managaha’s Rex Yabut. Yabut was the game’s leading scorer, accumulating 39 points by end of the game.
Both teams seemed evenly matched until the mid-fourth quarter, when the Managahas started losing momentum.
While they slowed down, the Mythicals took advantage and secured themselves above the Managahas.
The Mythicals started off with a great lead in the first quarter, scoring 24-18. The Managahas later sped up their offensive, where they made up their lost scores in the second and third quarter.
The Mythicals owed their victory to the impressive shooting of Leo Factor, who contributed 11 points in the fourth quarter. Factor was supported by Gilbert Miranda, Francis Rebuyon, and Jun Tabora, who each shot for six points before the game ended.
Grillin’s 87, VCC 64
Despite the rain that continuously haunted the Gualo Rai Court, the Grillin’s showed that they could conquer the VCCs anytime or day in last Monday’s game of the Miller Lite Invitational Basketball League.
The Grillin’s offered a solid offensive group that constantly made their way through VCC defenders, eventually winning with 87-64. Within their key lineup included Lerio Pagarao, who tied with VCC’s Whest Juquilion for the individual scores, earning 27 points throughout the game. The Grillin’s dominated through all quarters, while the VCCs struggled to keep up.
The VCCs still had a chance to catch up after the first half, where they trailed the Grillin’s by four points.
Grillins’ Rosell Ritual and Pagarao didn’t give their opponents a chance in the third quarter, where they scored a combined total of 17 points. Roger Herrera and Roy Hernandez provided support, catching VCC defenders off guard with speedy lay ups.
By the fourth quarter, the VCCs no longer had time to catch up.
Grillins’ Jun Itaas ended the game with a final three-pointer, following a basket from Herrera.
