The Falcons’ IJ Teigita sets up for the pitch during a 2024 Tan Holdings Baseball League game at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.
THE Falcons remain unscathed in the 2024 Tan Holdings Saipan Baseball League, earning their second win after outlasting the Braves, 4-2, at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field on Tuesday.
It started as an even match as both teams closed the first inning with no runs scored.
In the top of the second, the Falcons started to find their momentum with DJ Omar reaching as far as third base, but was denied the scoring run after second baseman Keoni Serrano caught the line drive for the third out.
The Braves finally broke the silence in the bottom half as Heath Camacho and Serrano capitalized off a handful of Falcon errors, slipping past home safely for a 2-0 advantage.
The Falcons recovered in the top of the third with first at bat Tonchu Norita stealing his way to third and later slipping past home off an error before the Braves could stop the bleeding, still ahead, 2-1.
The Braves notched only one hit in the next two innings while the Falcons managed to even the score, 2-2, in the top of the fifth with Norita rounding the bases via fielder’s choice aided by JJ Lifoifoi for an RBI.
The Falcons continued to ride the momentum as they kept the forward pressure going in the top of the sixth inning, forcing the Braves to commit untimely errors and allowing two more runs to slip by as the Falcons gained control, 4-2.
In the seventh and final inning, the Braves opened up a pair of scoring opportunities, but all hope was quickly erased as the Falcons snagged two consecutive outs needed to end the game and secure their second straight win, 4-2.
