FRANK Sablan topped the Amigos Golf Club’s October Ace of the Month Tournament with a two-day net score of 138 at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort on Sunday, Oct. 6.
In the qualifying round on Sept. 29, Sablan set the tone as his game was marked by strong tee offs and great placements. His gross score was 77, but his 12 handicap gave him a net score of 65.
In the ace round last Sunday, he shot a gross of 85 for a net score of 73, and a two-day net total of 138.
Coming in second was Ed Manglona. In the qualifying round, he shot a gross of 88, but with a handicap of 16, his net score was 72. In the ace round, he shot a gross of 90 for a net score of 74 and a two-day net total of 146, which was enough to secure second place.
In the optional play, the par 3 winners were Joe Sasamoto on hole #3, Joe Sablan Jr. on hole #7, Tony Satur on hole #13, and Al Aldan on hole #17. The winner for each hole was awarded $150.
The November Ace of the Month Tournament will begin with a qualifier round on Oct. 20 at the east course of LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort followed by the ace round on Nov. 10, on the west course.
