GARAPAN Elementary School 1 and Koblerville Elementary School 1 are headed to the co-ed division playoffs of the PSS-NMIFA Interscholastic Soccer League SY23-24 with an undefeated 5-0 record after defeating their respective opponents in the final regular season matches at the NMI Soccer Training Center on Monday.
GES 1’s final game was a tough one but they still came out victorious against William S. Reyes Elementary School 1, 2-1.
The first half of the match saw both teams going toe-to-toe with a handful of shot attempts. During the final minute, the never-ending efforts of GES 1 were finally rewarded as they broke through the line of defense with Evan Poole connecting the highlight finish at the 19th minute mark to gain the upper hand, 1-0.
In the second half, WSR slowly made their way back up with improved defensive coverages, which turned into a scored goal by Darshwana Chhetri 12 minutes in to even the score. However, six minutes later, Poole returned to the highlight reel with his second contribution to secure the win for WSR, 2-1.
SIS vs KoES
Another team to watch is Saipan International School, which improved their win/loss record to 4-1 after defeating KoES 2, 8-0.
SIS dominated from start to finish with Guy Pudney leading the onslaught. As soon as the ball dropped, he went straight to work and delivered within a minute. He scored another goal four minutes later to give his team a 2-0 lead.
Gabriel Walsh had the privilege of sharing the spotlight with back-to-back goals at the 9th and 18th minute marks. Pudney took over in the second half with three straight goals while Kaylen Taflinger followed up with his first goal to put the icing on the cake, 8-0.
Koblerville Elementary School 1, for their part, notched their fifth win on Friday where they routed their sibling team, KoES 2, 11-1.
