THE Geckos picked up a win in the women’s division of the 4 Starz Marianas Club 2nd Annual Fall Fest Volleyball Tournament 2025 on Wednesday night, defeating the Spike Girls in two sets at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
The opening set showcased a battle of teamwork and chemistry. The Spike Girls, though not the most experienced roster, fought with grit and heart, highlighted by diving saves and spikes from Lorielyn Lacay, Madeleine Alegre, Kiana Camacho, and Shar Casil.
On the other end, the Geckos had better communication and coverage, complemented by aggressive returns and strong block attempts led by Keylie Claveria, Irin Chung, and Hoo Wang as they battled through several lead exchanges.
In the final possessions of the set, precision became crucial as the Spike Girls struggled. A series of unforced errors and overshot returns allowed the Geckos to secure the first-set win, 25-23.
The second set saw both teams continue their fight for control. Spike Girls remained persistent, pushing each possession to force mistakes from the Geckos. Despite their efforts, their lack of precision undermined their plans, and each error gave the Geckos the chance to pull ahead and win the second set, 25-23.
In the men’s division, Bomba barely survived a three-set battle against 4-Starz.
4-Starz controlled the first set, using precision over power to secure a 25-19 win. Bomba adjusted in the second set and capitalized on late-game opportunities to claim a 26-24 win, forcing a decisive third set. Both teams traded nail-biting points in the finale, but Bomba emerged victorious over 4-Starz, 16-14, maintaining a flawless 4-0 record.
Bikini Bangers also ended the night with a win over Tekison Warriors, 25-14, 26-24, while Angry Penne defeated Caduceus (CHCC) in the CoEd division, 24-26, 25-20, 15-13.
