GES, Brilliant Star dominate elementary cross country

GARAPAN Elementary School and Brilliant Star School seized the spotlight during the second meet of the PSS-NMA All-School Cross Country Series SY25-26, finishing at the top of their respective elementary divisions at American Memorial Park on Saturday.

Elementary boys

Garapan Elementary School took over the boys division with 48 points, edging out Brilliant Star School (53), Kagman Elementary School (53), Agape Christian School (105), Grace Christian Academy (127), Sinapalo Elementary School of Rota (133), William S. Reyes Elementary School (136), San Vicente Elementary School (139), Oleai Elementary School (144), Mount Carmel School (170), Tinian Elementary School (204), Saipan Community School (206), Koblerville Elementary School (207), Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School (228), and Eucon International School (231).

In cross country, the team with the lowest score wins. Scores are calculated by adding the finishing positions of runners from each team, with each runner earning points equal to their finish: 1st place = 1 point, 2nd place = 2 points, 3rd place = 3 points, and so on.

The top 10 finishers were led by BSS’ Declan Spaeth (7:02), ACS’ Johnny Shen (7:07), ACS’ David Yang (7:22), GES’ Eliis Fehrenbacker (7:25), GTC’s Oshean Garde (7:33), GES’ Koen Poole (7:34), KAG’s Brayden Brennfleck (7:36), SVES’ Anthony Acosta (7:42), KAG’s Tristen Carino (7:42), and SNP’s Haven Catbagan (7:45).

Elementary girls

Brilliant Star School held the top spot for the second week in a row with 22 points, followed by WSR (26), MCS (68), SCS (83), TIN (109), OES (110), SVES (118), GTC (121), and SNP (156).

BSS’ Honey Thomsen recorded her second straight first-place finish with a time of 7:31, followed by SCS’ Iris Qin (7:36) and BSS’ Jairie Camacho (7:48). Rounding out the top 10 were WSR’s Riem Hernandez (8:09), WSR’s Makenna Pangelinan (8:09), MCS’ Chloe Mostales (8:42), BSS’ Lana Frederick (8:55), WSR’s Bautista (8:55), WSR’s Jaymie Dimasacat (8:59), and TIN’s Za’Niah Dela Cruz (9:00).

Middle school boys

Agape Christian School and Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Middle School shared the lead in the boys division with 54 points each, followed closely by Dandan Middle School (59), Saipan International School (60), Hopwood Middle School (69), Chacha Oceanview Middle School (80), and Francisco M. Sablan Middle School (116).

The top 10 were SIS’ Quido Jambor (13:53), SCS’ James VanDam (14:21), COVMS’ Benaiah Murphy (14:27), SIS’ Gabriel Walsh (14:37), FMS’ Ayden Villagomez (14:44), SCS’ Beau Bauer (15:27), ACS’ Job Gong (15:28), RHI’s Daniel Atalig (15:30), HMS’ Bentley Chargualaf (15:36), and RHI’s Tanvir Hosain (15:42).

Middle school girls

Saipan International School topped the girls division with 14 points, followed by SCS (25) and DMS (47).

The top 10 finishers were SCS’ LoVel Spaeth (14:51), SIS’ Neveah Arriola (16:34), SIS’ Kaylen Taflinger (16:50), SIS’ Leilani Ruszala (16:55), SIS’ Harper Loken (17:29), SCS’ Nadine VanDam (17:47), DMS’ Talina Aguon-McClure (18:26), SCS’ Hiyori Okuma (18:54), DMS’ Amica Hornilla (19:07), and SCS’ Ame Winkfield (19:45).
