Gorilla Warfare MMA organizer, Jeff Boyer in an interview yesterday said the Confrontation that will be held on Nov. 21 at the Saipan World Resort is giving the NMI’s fighters the chance to wear the first ever title belt in MMA.
In MMA events world wide, title belts are awarded to dominant fighters in a certain division.
Boyer pointed out that having title belts will help “raise the bar” among MMA fighters and promoters. Any fighter who has the belt will gain more credibility as an MMA fighter so everywhere they go, they can find doors wide open to them.
“Once the fighter has the belt, everybody could tell the fighter is the best of the best,” Boyer said.
Like the other MMA promoters on island, the Gorilla Warfare, Boyer has been waiting too long to get the opportunity to introduce the title fights in order to level up the said sports.
The first group to bring title belt in MMA, the Gorilla Warfare he added will start giving it to the fighters in the middle division.
The fighters who will get the chance to win it are those who will meet in the four-man tournament where the winning fighter would have to fight for the second time to win the belt.
