Registration time is at 8:30 a.m., and games start at 9 a.m. The tournament will be capped at 25 teams, and participants must bring their own partners in the co-ed division.
Entry fees are $20 per player and $15 per NMIVA member. Those who may wish to register early can download forms from www.nmivolleyball.org.
“The tournament is capped at 25 teams and if full, will begin with five pools of five teams each,” said coordinators Randy Steele and Heather Kennedy in the NMIVA’s website. “The top three teams from each pool plus one more ‘wild card,’ 4th-place pool finisher, will advance to the 16-team double elimination portion of the tournament.”
The court nets will be set at ‘women’s height’ and men cannot jump serve, according to the NMIVA.
Prizes at stake include Shell fuel certificates from IP&E, Gold’s Gym Super 10 passes, brunch and waterpark passes from Pacific Islands Club, online value coupons from San Diego-based PlasticClothing.com and watersport certificates from BSEA Sunsports among other rewards.
“We are kindly asking for early confirmations of partnerships so that we know how close we are coming to the 25-team cap. We have a number of requests from under 18, youth players to join this tourney but would like to get a fairly accurate count of how many adult teams will be entered before we open entries to youth teams,” added the Steele and Kennedy.
