Guam’s Team Haggan that defeated Isa Masters in the men’s division in 2008 met a new breed of opponents from Saipan’s Team Fanians in the championship.
However, front liner, Josh Cruz heavy hitting helped Team Haggan put up the lead and Ken Borja protected their territory and Team Haggan held on to their lead to win the crown again.
In women’s division, Guam’s Team Quality lady spikers also retained their crown with Luci Calvo leading them to beat the Team Margaritas.
Team Advance and Zack Attack settled for third place in men and women’s division respectively, while No Fear and Pikkan Gaga placed fourth.
Organized by the Island Volleyball Club, this year’s Jam Attack drew nine teams in women’s division team and six men’s teams.
The CNMI volleyball community, tournament organizer, Jonas Barcinas noted is now eyeing for potential players who can make it to the national teams for the Micro Games that will be held in Palau in August.
So the three-day event, Barcinas said also served as venue to recruit potential players for the Micro Games that will be held in Palau in August.
The game, he added were pretty tough with all the teams doing all their best to clinch the playoff and the championship game.
The most valuable player awards went to Team Haggan’s Josh Cruz in men’s division and Team Quality’s Luci Calvo in women’s division.
The sportsmanship award went to Team Tinian and Las Chickas.
Josh Cruz and Team Quality’s Becky Salas bagged the best spiker awards.
The best setter, best server, best blocker went to Ken Borja.
