THE Eagle Rays ended the regular season of the 2025 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association League on a high note, reigning supreme over Peleliu, 22-11, in a masters division game held Sunday at the Dandan ball field.

The Eagle Rays entered the game hungry for a win, and it showed in a barrage of home runs.

The onslaught began in the top of the first inning with Jaime Reyes leading off with a solo shot, followed by a two-run blast from Eric Cabrera before their side was retired. In the bottom half, however, Peleliu answered with a flurry of hits, highlighted by Aling Ogumoro’s two-RBI double, bringing in a total of five runs to take an early 5-3 lead.

More fireworks followed in the second inning. Ton Pangelinan connected on a solo homer for the Eagle Rays, but Peleliu doubled their production in the frame to hold a slim 7-4 advantage.

The turning point came in the top of the third, when the Eagle Rays erupted for an eight-run rally. Mike Techur smashed a three-run homer, followed by a two-run blast from Sidney Kani and a solo shot from Jason Reyes. Peleliu managed a solo home run in the bottom half, but the Eagle Rays had seized control, 12-8.

With momentum on their side, the Eagle Rays piled on seven more runs in the fourth, including Cabrera’s and Techur’s second home runs of the game, stretching the lead even further.

Peleliu pushed across three runs in the bottom half, but the Eagle Rays matched them in the fifth to keep a safe cushion at 22-11, triggering the 10-run mercy rule.

Peleliu tried to rally late, but the bats went quiet, sealing an early defeat.

In other action, Asahi closed the season by claiming the masters division pennant, while the Batties took the women’s division pennant after outlasting the Dirty Diamonds, 5-4.
