HOPWOOD Middle School remains one of the top contenders in the boys middle school division of the PSS-SBL Interscholastic Fastpitch Softball League SY24-25 after collecting their second win of the season by beating Dandan Middle School, 11-7, at the Dandan softball field on Saturday.

Although only four innings were played, the game was filled with intense action.

In the top of the opening inning, DMS recorded the first run as second at bat Edwin Kaipat rounded the bases following a series of consecutive hits.

Defensively, however, DMS struggled as their infield errors allowed HMS’ Caleb Cabrera to reach home plate and tie the score, 1-1.

HMS then made the proper substitutions, starting with a pitching change to Jesse Santos, who struck out two of three DMS batters in the top of the second inning.

In the bottom half, HMS capitalized on DMS’s defensive errors, scoring four runs to take a comfortable 5-1 lead.

In the top of the third, DMS devised a counterattack, scoring two runs before the first out was made. DMS then notched three more runs to regain the lead, 6-5.

However, HMS returned fire in the bottom half with six runs to stay afloat, 11-6.

DMS had one last attempt to stay in the game, but could only squeeze in one more run in the top of the fourth inning before HMS collected the three outs needed to seal the deal, 11-7.

Other games

Joining the winner’s circle were Mount Carmel School, which slipped past Chacha Oceanview Middle School, 15-14; and Tanapag Middle School, which outhustled Francisco M. Sablan Middle School, 5-2.
