Hopwood, SIS shut down opponents in girls middle school soccer

HOPWOOD Middle School and Saipan International School silenced their respective opponents in the girls middle school division of the NMIFA-PSS Interscholastic Soccer League on Friday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville. 

Hopwood displayed dominance against Tanapag Middle School, 10-0. 

HMS found their rhythm right from the start as eight of their goals were scored in the first half. 

Their onslaught started at the second minute mark when Alyssa Borlongan found the back of the net. After 15 minutes of play, four more goals were scored by HMS —  two by Yelynn Ha and one each from Angel Calayag and Elyza Brillo. Ha then completed the hat-trick with her third goal scored at the 22nd minute mark along while Calayag and Brillo delivered a goal each to further stretch the deficit, 8-0. 

In the second half, TMS made shot attempts, but they could not find the back of the net. For their part, HMS slipped in two more goals courtesy of Borlongan to seal the deal, 10-0. 

SIS vs FMS

Saipan International School silenced Francisco M. Sablan Middle School, 6-0.

It did not take long for SIS to penetrate through FMS’ defensive walls with Beatrice Gross scoring the opening goal at the fourth minute mark. Her teammates then joined the scoreboard with Aubrey White, Sophia Jang, and Addalee Taflinger contributing a goal each for a 4-0 lead. 

FMS tightened their defensive in the second half, but SIS scored two more goals courtesy of Beatrice Gross and Sophia Jang to end the game, 6-0.
