ISLANDER Rent-A-Car has yet to face defeat and is on a three-game winning streak after powering past Triskelion, 74-57, in the Destroyers Basketball Club Invitational Basketball League 2024 at the TSL Sports Complex on Sunday.
Islander established dominance right from the start as they played aggressively on both ends of the court. Turning defense into offense, their lead quickly grew with Albert Agustin and Jerome Directo each delivering four points while Webb Gontar and Raymond Velasco contributed from beyond the arc with a triple each.
Triskelion took as many shots as Islander but struggled to find the bottom of the net due to the defensive pressure inside the paint. With only J-Eric Leon and Matt Salasiban able to finish, the team continued to fall further out of reach by halftime, 19-44.
Despite a rough start, Triskelion returned to the second half with a different demeanor.
The roles were flipped as Triskelion relentlessly aimed to control the pace with Leon picking up where he left off with seven quick points while Jessie Bobares cleaned up the mess within the perimeter.
However, Islander maintained the safe distance with Frank Ferrer as the biggest threat from beyond the arc, recording a total of four three-pointers while Directo and Agustin highlighted the inside game with 14 and 9 points, respectively, to defeat Triskelion, 74-57.
