M-Squad — which consisted of staff members from PIC’s Magellan restaurant — needed only one win to take out IT&E, who had already lost their first match versus Huevos Grandes.
IT&E however, clung on in the losers’ bracket and surmounted M-Squad’s twice-to-beat advantage after crushing top-seeded Man’A’Gatcha in the semifinals.
M-Squad went undefeated with four straight wins before advancing to the championship in the winners’ bracket.
IT&E dug upwards after their first loss and defeated S.E.A. and Our Balls Ur Chin before facing Huevos Grandes for the second time in the quarterfinals.
IT&E’s 10-man squad included Ed and JJ Mendoza, Keone Chariton, Eric Lizama, Joe Deleon Guerrero, Connie Camacho, Kevin Deleon, Jerome Ocampo, Quincy Johnson, and Marlie Rankin.
Johnson and Camacho were among the few that remained on the court before IT&E dealt its final blow in game two of the finals round.
The two-day double elimination tournament started on Friday, November 4, with seeding determined by each team’s points based on wins.
