JC Marketing has taken the lead in the first-to-two-win playoff series by defeating K2 Ballerz, 81-67, in the Alpha Kappa Rho 1st Semi-Open Invitational Basketball League 2025 at the TSL Sports Complex on Tuesday night.

The opening half saw both teams engaged in a seesaw battle for control.

JC Marketing dominated the first 10 minutes with countless transition plays. What powered their offensive run was their strong defensive presence, as their constant harassment forced K2 Ballerz into several turnovers and rushed shots. With each successful stop, JC Marketing capitalized with fastbreak finishes, led by Pastrana, who scored 14 points to give his team a double-digit advantage.

However, during the next 10 minutes of the first half, K2 Ballerz mounted an offensive run.

Coming off a timeout, K2 Ballerz opted for the pick-and-roll with Frankie Satur on the frontline, thriving off several second-chance buckets. Although fatigue started to show, the support of Doming Faisao and Freddie Alexander was enough to keep their team in the game, trailing by just one possession at halftime, 41-38.

In the second half, Ballerz’s efforts were marred by turnovers and forced shot attempts. JC Marketing seized the opportunity to widen their lead, with Pastrana picking up where he left off, scoring seven unanswered points, including an and-one play. When he was heavily guarded, it opened up more scoring options for his team, with Keith Santos and Jack Lizama contributing 12 and seven points, respectively.

JC Marketing triumphed with ease, 81-67.

In the other playoff games, Save More/DPS Car Mart bested Vizion Insurance, 82-77, while Priority Care trounced Eagles/Kuya, 85-49.
