JESSE Stole claimed the spotlight as the August Ace of the Month for the Amigos Golf Club, edging out Nick Deleon Guerrero in a tiebreaker at the conclusion of Sunday’s tournament on the east course of Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.
Stole maintained a steady swing throughout the two-day event.
In the qualifying round on Sunday, Aug. 3, Stole was among the leaders, completing the 18-hole course with a gross score of 80. With his 11-handicap, his net score of 69 placed him among the front-runners.
During the ace round, Stole improved slightly, shooting a gross 79. With his 11-handicap, this gave him a net score of 68, for a two-day net total of 137.
Stole was not going to claim the title without a fight as Nick Deleon Guerrero also recorded a two-day net score of 137, forcing a tiebreaker to determine the winner.
On hole #10 of the scorecard playoff, Stole sank a par while Deleon Guerrero bogeyed, giving Stole the first-place win and the August Ace of the Month title.
In optional play, the Par 3 winners were Frank Sablan (hole #3), Shine Tenorio (#7), Fredd Salavaria (#13), and Sherlyn Jones (#17), with each receiving $120.
The Amigos Golf Club will hold its September Ace of the Month tournament with a qualifier on Sept. 14 at the east course, followed by the ace round on Sept. 28 at the west course.
