Lions’ short stop Lamarc Iguel went 2-for-3 with one triple, one single, and two runs from the first and third innings.
Iguel bagged an RBI at the bottom of the first, sending Arthur Jebhen to home plate. Starting pitcher Leroy Regis hit a sacrifice fly after Ricardo Dela Cruz’s walk, driving Iguel in. Regis mustered seven strike outs and only one walk before switching out for Dela Cruz.
After six empty innings, the Jets bagged their first and last run from Matthew Maeda’s RBI single at the top of the seventh.
Regis, Russel Hocog, and Zack Aldan tallied one run apiece on errors.
Twins 7, McDonald’s 3
In the majors division, the Marianas Health Service As Matuis Twins dominated Team McDonald’s, 7-3 at the Miguel ‘Tan Ge’ Basa Baseball Field.
Catcher Jun Atalig lifted the Twins with two RBI singles, sending Randy Tudela and Anthony Q home at the bottom of the second inning.
The unstoppable Roke Tenorio went 3-for-3 with two runs, two singles, a double, and one stolen base. Anthony Q walked twice in the first and second innings, landing two consecutive runs.
Team McDonald’s – struggling to score – posted their first run on an RBI triple from George P.
Anthony Iwit and Perry Tenorio their final runs via passed ball and stolen base, respectively.
Atalig switched with starting pitcher Oscar Lizama and finished the game with three strikeouts at the top of the sixth. Lizama struck out seven, walked two, and allowed one run on two hits in the first five innings. Blade Igitol, Atalig, and Tudela scored one run each.
Jets 17, IT&E 2
Franklyn L.’s grand slam and the rest of the Juan S. Tenorio Jets proved too much for Team IT&E.
The Jets soared ahead on a nine-run third inning and won, 17-2 in three and a half innings. Catcher Harvey Matagolai went 2-for-4 with one triple and one single and scored three runs. With loaded bases and no outs, Franklyn L. took the spot light with a home run at the bottom of the second. Ton Ilo, Benjamin M., and Kane Ybanez scored two runs each.
IT&E’s Alan Hinson and Raymond Borja posted two runs on wild pitches.
Benjamin M. pitched a no hitter with four walks. Both Matagolai and Benjamin M. hit two RBI triples apiece at the bottom of the third to hand the Jets a 13-2 lead.
Playoffs for big, senior leagues coming up
Playoffs for the big division are set for Saturday, May 7 at 3 p.m. and Monday, May 9 at 7 p.m.
Playoffs in the senior league follow on Tuesday, May 10 at 6 p.m. and Thursday, May 12 at 6 p.m.
Teams advancing from both divisions have not been confirmed yet.
