The law funded $18,625 from the lapsed funds appropriated under Saipan Local Law 15-18 to partially fund the hosting of the upcoming Oceania tournament scheduled for June.
It also re-appropriate $13,275 from SLL 14-31, section 2© of which gives the tournament another $2,275, MYSN, $2,000 and landscaping for sports facility, $9,000.
The law also earmarked the $4,275 from SLL 16-4 that appropriates another $2,275 to the said tournament and another $2,000 to MYSN.
HLB 16-3 states that that as hosting country, the paramount obligations and responsibilities of ensuring the safety of the participants and the success of the tournament and conference require funding.
The purpose of the legislation, it further says that the lapsed funds appropriated under SLL 15-187 to partially fund the FIBA tournament, which is estimated to cost approximately $30,000, and to provide funding for hosting the MYSN conference which estimated to cost at least $10,000.
Due to the absence of fresh local revenues and importance of the tournament and conference, the representatives support the funding.
