JOETEN and the Office of the Governor bested their respective opponents in the 2023 R&J Wine and Liquor Inter-Government/Business League on Saturday at the Ada gym. 

Joeten had a scare but managed to bounce back during the second half to defeat PSS, 72-64. 

Joeten quickly set the tone using great ball movement and teamwork. Sid Quan and Yugie Cruz kept the offensive pressure going while Alex Lauron and Ervin Villarin cleaned the trash with second chance buckets to give their team the lead in the first quarter, 18-10. 

PSS made their comeback later in the second canto with Preston Basa lighting up the scoreboard with 12 points to close the distance, 33-31. 

At one point in the third period, PSS even led by three points. However, Joeten forced their way back by drawing several fouls to gradually regain control from the free-throw line. 

In the final quarter, Preston Basa delivered a couple of three pointers but suffered from an injury, which allowed Joeten to pull away with the win, 72-64. 

Office of the Governor vs CUC

The Office of the Governor dominated CUC, 84-69. 

The Office of the Governor controlled the tempo of the game right from the start with Juan Camacho and Dixon Kwon attacking the inside while Athan Taisague and Timmy Pangelinan combined for 12 points to push a double-digit lead, 22-12. 

CUC’s Christopher Sablan and John Nekaifes stood at the frontline throughout the game with countless offensive highlights, but the Office of the Governor continued to deliver on both ends with Trevor Ogumoro later joining the onslaught en route to an easy win, 84-69.
