Junior squad for Marianas invitational to be selected in Rotary caging

However, in statement yesterday, BANMI president Elias Rangamar said the initial schedule for MIBT, the longest running basketball tournament in Micronesia was cancelled indefinitely due to “dire financial situations” in the islands.

MBIT, Rangamar said features teams from Guam, Saipan, Tinian, Rota and Palau.

Nevertheless, the selection for the invitational basketball event will move ahead through the 17th Annual Rotary Club Summer Youth Basketball League.

The organizers for the said event are holding coaches meeting at 5 p.m., on June 19, Friday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym conference room.

Agenda includes submission of rosters, fees, waiver forms and setting of the opening date.

Meanwhile, Rangamar added, managers and coaches for the Intern-government/Business Basketball League will also have a meeting at 10 a.m., of the same day also at the same venue.

All interested teams he said are encouraged to attend. The organizers will entertain requests for inclusion of women and masters’ division.
