KANOA Football Club remains unscathed after completing the first round of regular season play in the Marianas Soccer League 1 Spring 2025, notching its fourth straight win by outhustling Matansa Football Club, 4-1, at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville on Wednesday night.

KNFC’s roster of individually skilled players was impressive. Working together, they became a nearly unstoppable force, seamlessly moving the ball across the field while maintaining offensive and defensive coverage to sustain forward pressure.

Although MFC stood their ground, they were eventually worn down, allowing KNFC’s Tyler Omelau to capitalize on the opportunity and score the opening goal in the 13th minute for a 1-0 lead.

MFC managed to fend off most of the subsequent attacks but had little opportunity to go on the offensive. Meanwhile, KNFC extended their lead to 3-0 before halftime with two more goals, courtesy of Paul Lizama in the 24th minute and Brian Lubao in the 31st.

The break seemed to rejuvenate MFC. Taking on the role of aggressor, they went toe-to-toe with KNFC in a second half filled with relentless exchanges.

MFC was finally rewarded for its efforts when Sunjoon Tenorio scored the team’s first goal in the 62nd minute.

Their time in the spotlight was brief, however, as they quickly collapsed due to a lack of defensive awareness, leaving KNFC’s Lizama unguarded to deliver the daggering goal 16 minutes later, sealing the 4-1 victory.
