Kanoa Football Club’s Alejandra Manabat battles for the possession against an MP United Football Club defender during a U17 girls division game of the TakeCare Youth Soccer League Fall 2024 at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
THE Kanoa Football Club collected their fourth win in the U17 girls division of the TakeCare Youth Soccer League Fall 2024 by silencing the Paire Football Club, 4-0, at the NMI Soccer Training Center on Saturday.
Both teams entered the match with their heads held up high as they exchanged shots throughout the first 20 minutes.
After several attempts, Kanoa eventually moved as one to advance past defenders and midfield. After an intense scuffle for possession, Kanoa’s Beatrice Gross secured the ball to finish strong and give her team the lead at the 22nd minute mark, 1-0.
Gross was not finished as her team quickly fed her hunger with a quick set up for a second goal just three minutes later.
Down 0-2, Paire managed to keep their composure and successfully defended their turf for the remainder of the first half.
In the second half, Paire’s defenders focused on Gross, allowing her teammates to seize scoring opportunities. Faith Arriola joined the highlight reel as she marked her contribution at the 40th minute mark while Miley Mafnas connected Kanoa’s fourth goal at the 51st minute mark to seal the deal, 4-0.
MP United vs Shirley’s
MP United Football Club, which is second overall with a 3-1-1 record, outlasted Shirley’s Football Club, 4-2.
Shirley’s was the first to draw blood as they capitalized off a defensive stop led by Alyssa Borlongan, who found the back of the net at the 16th minute mark. Seven minutes later, MPU’s Yeji Jang evened the score, 1-1.
As its momentum continued to build, MPU gradually wore down Shirley’s and scored their second goal at 40th minute mark courtesy of Addelee Taflinger.
Shirley’s retaliated with Borlongan’s second contribution just two minutes later, but MPU’s Fiona Regan fired back at the 45th minute mark to stay afloat, 3-2.
Jang then connected her second goal at the 53rd minute mark to defeat Shirley’s, 4-2.
