KAGMAN High School on Saturday claimed the girls high school division championship of the PSS-NMISA Interscholastic Fastpitch Softball League SY24-25 by dominating Marianas High School, 22-2, at the Capital Hill ball field.
KHS had to be beaten twice as they cleared the playoff round unscathed.
In the top of the first inning, KHS quickly disposed of MHS, allowing only one hit before collecting the three outs needed. In the bottom half, KHS capitalized off MHS’ defensive errors with four runs before MHS was able to stop the bleeding, 4-0.
MHS tried to break the silence in the top of the second inning and nearly succeeded with a runner reaching third base. However, KHS bagged three outs to keep MHS at bay.
Led by Jewel Malwelbug, KHS added four more runs to stretch the deficit, 8-0.
KHS prolonged their dominant defensive performance in the third inning as pitcher Jayda Norita recorded her fifth strikeout. In the bottom half, KHS brought in seven runs to extend the lead to double digits, 15-0.
With the mercy rule in effect, MHS had to score two runs in the top of the fourth inning to keep the game going.
However, their efforts only delayed the inevitable as KHS responded with a seven-run onslaught in the bottom half to put the mercy rule back into effect and end the game with only four innings played, 22-2, to claim the girls high school division championship.
The KHS roster included Diandra Adelbai, Marlaina Benjamin, Wynona Blas, Nevaeh Camacho, Kysha Kileleman, Shamae Kileleman, Jewel Malwelbug, Pia Ngewakl, Lena Ngiraked, Lyandra Ngiraked, Hayden Norita, Jayda Norita, Amaya Ogumoro-Uludong, Wylynn Pua, Rayven Quitano and Ry’ahna Quitano.
