KOBLERVILLE Elementary School emerged victorious in a nail-biting finale against William S. Reyes Elementary School via an overtime shootout to claim the elementary school division championship of the NMI Football Association Interscholastic Soccer League SY 23-24 at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville on Wednesday.

At first, it seemed to be a one-sided match as WSR played the role of the aggressor. After five minutes of continuous pressure, they scored the first goal of the match courtesy of Salman Kamal. He added two more goals at the 8th and 12th minute marks to solidify WSR’s lead, 3-0.

Despite a strong start, WSR gradually lost touch defensively as KoES cooked up a rally with two consecutive goals at the 17th and 20th minute marks that were delivered by Vincent Mettao and Alexander Aveira to close the distance before halftime, 2-3.

At the start of the second half, KoES’ Aveira managed to even the score with his second goal, but WSR’s Kamal’s scored his fourth goal of the match  two minutes later to retain the lead, 4-3.

As time wound down, KoES made their way deep within enemy territory where Aveira slipped between defenders and unleashed a high shot over WSR’s goalie that found the back of the net at the 39th minute for the second deadlock of the match with two minutes left.

The soccer game went into overtime. During the shootout, WSR failed to score while KoES’ Aiden Lizama and Aveira connected a goal each to seal the deal, 2-0 (4-4), and claim the championship.

Third place

In the battle for third place, San Vicente Elementary School 2  reigned supreme over Garapan Elementary School, 2-0.

Zayne Reyes scored the first goal for SVES at the 3rd minute mark while Izaiah Haro scored the other at the 18thminute mark.
