During the first game amongst the Junior Varsity division team MHS buried team KHS six feet under the ground after star player Charlene Lizardo lead the way for the lady Dolphins fiercely throughout the game.
She did not do this alone however and teammate Krizandra Gozon jumped into the winning band wagon of the Lady Dolphins and helped her out by collaring 9 points for the team. Dolphin player Kirstine Guevarra chipped in her two pence to secure their imminent win against the Lady Ayuyus.
During the Varsity bout between the Lady Dolphins and Lady Ayuyus, the Dolphins took major advantage of their home arena to kick the Ayuyus out of the water.
The Lady Ayuyus grabbed an early lead in the first quarter of the game with team player Stacie Mizutani and teammate Lizel Gideon and bagged 4 points a piece yanking the driver’s seat and achieving a very shaky two point lead over the Lady Dolphins, 9-7.
The Lady Dolphins did not let the opposing team pass them by again. Ira Palero collared 6 points for the Lady Dolphins whilst teammate Jamie Mendoza bagged a three pointer to not only catch up to the Lady Ayuyus but also to leave them behind as the Dolphins grabbed the driver’s seat from them securing a sturdy 5 point lead by the time the siren rang to seal the first half of the game shut, 28-23.
As the second half unraveled the Lady Ayuyus tried to muster and device game plans to take the lead away from the Dolphins. Star player of the night, Mercedes Mesa scored a whopping 12 point record in the third quarter of the game in her herculean effort to close the gap previously made.
Stacie Mizutani worked with Mesa by chipping in her 8 pence to try and close the gap. Unfortunately they came up one point short by the end of the third quarter from beating the Lady Dolphins, 44-43.
It was history for the fatigue driven Ayuyus. They were not able to make one single shot in the last quarter of the game as the Lady Dolphins dominated with a powerful driving force.
Jamie Mendoza of the Lady Dolphins heralded her team’s win by collaring in another 9 points for the Dolphins to secure the win ferociously, 70-43.
