TEAM Lady Sufa continue to fight their way to the top in the women’s division of the 2024 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association after emerging victorious in a nail-biting game against the Boleras, 18-17, at the Dandan baseball field on Sunday.

It was a high-scoring game with the Boleras drawing first blood in the top of the opening inning.

Vicky Ann, who was first at bat, connected a double and was joined by teammate Amalina Evangelista with only one out. Riding the momentum, Maria Quitugua hit a single that brought in Ann.

Teammates Tori Pangelinan, Juanah Lizama and Bon Iguel also earned an RBI each and contributed to their team’s 6-0 lead.

The tide quickly turned, however, as the Boleras were nearly shut down, scoring only one run in the top of the second while Lady SUFA bagged four runs led by Sheena Maratita’s two-RBI single to snatch control, 8-7.

The back-and-forth exchange continued throughout the next three innings with the Boleras retaining the advantage after a six-run comeback in the bottom of the fifth, 16-15. Lady SUFA then equalized with a single run in the bottom of the sixth for a 16-16 tie.

In the seventh inning, the Boleras tried to seal the deal and managed to squeeze a solo run. But Lady SUFA were saved by Bong Babauta’s two-RBI single to secure the win, 18-17.

Winners, too

Joining the winner’s circle were the Lady Blue Jays, who outplayed Bat & Boujee, 5-1; and the 670 Magas Babes, who outclassed BDE, 16-6.
