Last Sunday’s walkathon

The day started an eary morning – 5:00 a.m. – walkathon, which started at at Bai-ra-Meketii going and ended at Long Island park. 

More than 200 people, of differing ages and wearing color coded shirts that indicated their hamlet of residency or one which they chose to represent, participated in the event.   Delegate Joel Toribiong and Governor Yositaka Adachi marched ahead of everyone in the walkathon to signal the start of the event.  The event organizers, other participants, spectators, and well-wishers lined up behind them.The first 100 particpants to complete the walkathon recieved a t-shirt commemorating the anniversary.  All particpants were treated to a light breakfast at Long Island Park.After the walkathon, organizers  arranged various games that ran throughout the day.  The games ranged from beach volleyball to a fishing derby themselves in.Long Island Park was teaming with people.  Hamlet representatives fought hard to put their hamlet on a pedestal.  All throughout the competetive events, everyone present seemed to have been rooting for Koror State.
