The games will start at 9 am today and will be concluded on July 25.
Traditional leaders, members of the Senate and House of Delegates, officials from the Ministries, State and National governments and officers of the Palau National Olympics Committee attended the opening ceremony on Thursday night at the Palau National Gymnasium.Teams from Koror State, Angaur, Aimeliik, Ngaraard, Melekeok, Ngchesar, Ngaremlengui, Ngardmau, Ngarchelong, Peleliu and Sonsorol paraded with their respective flags.The athletes were welcomed by PNOC President Frank Kyota.Minister Tina Rehuher Marugg of the Ministry of Community & Cultural Affairs was the keynote speaker of the opening ceremony.Marugg was speaking on behalf of President Johnson Toribiong who is off the country right now.Minister of Health Stevenson Kuartei also delivered a special message.Basketball teams from Melekeok and Peleliu played after the opening ceremony.
