Lizama’s net 70.6 was enough for him to win over second place winner Steve Jang who submitted a net 72. He won $500 and a golf bag.
Jang pocketed $400 after scoring a 37 in the first nine holes of the competition and going a little over in the last nine with a 41. After Jang deducted his 6 handicap he landed in second place with a net 72.
Joe Sablan closely tailed Jang after knocking down a 72.20 par. Sablan originally recorded a net gross of 78 which was 5 par shy of Jang’s score.
Fortunately his handicap, 4.8, gave him lee way to improve his score and seal third place with $300 after a tie with Rick Kautz.
Rick Kautz netted an 88 but with his handicap he was able to decrease it to 72.40, .20 behind Sablan. Kautz was awarded $200 which he donated back to the Marianas March Against Cancer.
In fifth place came Frank Sablan, who bagged a total 72.40 net score to pocket $100 prize. Sixth through tenth place received awards as well.
Making it to the Top 10 were Jack San Nicolas 72.60, Jung Eun Teack 72.60, Jason Tinney 72.80, Yuko Togawa 73.60, and Joe Saures 73.60.
Teack collared the closest to the pin award on Hole No. 3, while Ron Benavente garnered the award on Hole No. 13. Each golfer received $110 and no one was able to bag the hole-in-one prize.
MMAC chair Dave Guerrero thanked the crowd and volunteers for their support despite the bleak weather. MMAC will have its final fundraiser at the Hopwood Junior High School on May 13 and 14. 11 teams join including a team made up of MMAC volunteers. Teams will then contest to run the relay next month around the Hopwood Junior High School’s soccer field.
