IN a showdown between the league’s top teams, the Cardinals came out victorious over Athletic A’s, 9-4, clinching the pennant and completing the regular season of the 2025 Saipan Baseball League last Friday at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.

The game started off quietly, with both teams failing to score in the opening inning.

In the top of the second, the A’s broke the silence with two runs, including an RBI triple by Justin Camacho and a run scored on a passed ball, while the Cardinals remained scoreless in the bottom half, 2-0.

The Cardinals responded in the third inning. Poland Masaharu drew a walk, then was driven home by Mike Brownstein’s RBI single. Another run scored on a passed ball, followed by Brownstein scoring on Jerald Cabrera’s single. With runners on base, Brian Camacho connected a three-run home run, his third of the season, bringing in six runs in the inning before it ended, giving the Cardinals a 6-2 lead.

Over the next three innings, the Cardinals added three more runs, while the A’s managed two runs in the top of the seventh, before ultimately falling 9-4.
