NORTHERN Mariana Islands Basketball Federation President James Lee confirmed that the board elections, originally scheduled for April 21, have been postponed until further notice.
The decision, made in coordination with the current board, comes amid ongoing organizational developments and recovery efforts following Super Typhoon Sinlaku.
As part of the postponement, a strict financial and legislative freeze has been implemented. The current board agreed to the following conditions until the elections are rescheduled:
• No voting. The board will not vote on any official matters.
• Funding restriction. No federation funds will be used, with one exception allowing payment of outstanding obligations to officials from interscholastic and government leagues to ensure personnel are compensated for their work.
The federation said it intends to reschedule the elections once conditions stabilize, in order to ensure a transparent transition for the sport’s governing body in the Northern Mariana Islands.
