
THE NMI athletics team kicks off its campaign at the 2026 Oceania Athletics Championships today, Monday, at Arafura Stadium in Darwin, Australia, with two local standout athletes scheduled to make their highly anticipated debuts on opening day.
Middle-distance runner Addalee Taflinger will be the first to represent the Commonwealth, lining up in lane five for Heat 1 of the Women’s Under-18 800 meters at 4:40 p.m.
Shortly after, attention will shift to the field as veteran thrower Maria Quitugua takes center stage at 5:10 p.m., throwing sixth in a highly competitive 12-athlete field in the Women’s Senior Javelin Throw (600g).
