THE 2026 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association League will officially move forward with its season following a majority vote by league representatives to continue play.

The season is set to resume on July 5 and run through December, with games relocated to the Capital Hill Ballfield as local facilities continue to recover from the impacts of Super Typhoon Sinlaku. Teams can look forward to full days of action on the diamond, with Sunday games scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

In an interview, BASA Vice President McQueen Masaharu said the Capital Hill Ballfield was chosen for the resumption of BASA Masters and Women’s league play because the Dandan Ballfield is currently not playable. “Fences are down and there is no press box,” he said. The league is expected to return to the Dandan Ballfield once repairs to the fences and press box are completed.

“After the disruption caused by Super Typhoon Sinlaku, BASA is pleased to announce the resumption of league activities. The storm had a significant impact on our community, and our thoughts remain with everyone who continues to recover and rebuild. As conditions improve and facilities become safe for use, we believe returning to sports can help restore a sense of normalcy, strengthen community spirit, and provide positive opportunities for our athletes.”

Masaharu also thanked players, families, volunteers, and supporters for their patience and understanding during this challenging period. BASA will continue to prioritize safety while working to move the league forward.
