Softball tournament returns with 18 teams, charity drive

THE 3rd Annual CNMI Softball Tournament is set to kick off Friday, May 22, with the first pitch scheduled for 7 a.m. at the Tan Ko and Tan Ge ball fields.

This year, the competitive three-day event has been transformed into a community fundraiser to support those still recovering from Super Typhoon Sinlaku. A total of 18 teams — comprising 11 men’s and seven women’s squads — will battle it out on the diamond under a challenging three-game-guarantee format. The tournament begins with a single round-robin seeding stage Friday morning before transitioning into double-elimination brackets through Sunday.

Alongside the action, organizers are hosting a Clothing and Canned Food Drive, collecting gently used clothing and canned goods for distribution to local shelters and families most in need through door-to-door drop-offs.
