(MVA) — The Marianas’ appeal as a premier winter golf destination is gaining attention with two recent projects of the Marianas Visitors Authority in Saipan, the new JTBC Golf show “JTBC LaoLao Bay Invitational Season 1 The Memories” and this month’s Marianas Youth Golf Clinic with young local players.
JTBC Golf channel features a wide range of golf content, including lessons, documentaries, and news, and the channel maintains an average viewership of more than 20,000 viewers. “JTBC LaoLao Bay Invitational” premiered on Thursday (Dec. 11), featuring 12 players from the world’s top four major women’s professional golf tours competing in a one-on-one match-play format. The lineup includes veteran golfer Hee-Kyung Seo — who boasts 11 wins on the KLPGA Tour and one win on the LPGA Tour — along with KLPGA standouts such as Kyung-Eun Bae, Yoon-Kyung Heo, and Dana Kim. Together, the field has amassed a total of 38 KLPGA victories, heightening anticipation among golf fans.
In addition to the competition, the show spotlights a variety of hidden gems and unique experiences across Saipan as the players explore the island. The 12-episode series will air every Thursday and is expected to further elevate the Marianas’ reputation as a “luxury golf hub” by showcasing its premium golf offerings and breathtaking natural landscapes.
Alongside the broadcast promotions, Marianas Golf Ambassador and KLPGA player BK Park conducted a Marianas Youth Golf Clinic on Dec. 7, 2025, at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort, offering lessons to 14 local junior golfers. Park, who was introduced to golf as a child growing up in Saipan, provided detailed swing instruction and engaged participants through an interactive Q&A session.
“Marianas Golf Ambassador Park received enthusiastic feedback from our young athletes, and we appreciate her continued help in promoting the Marianas,” said MVA Acting Managing Director Judy C. Torres. “As a golfer who began her own career dreams on Saipan, her mentorship carries special significance and is meaningful to positioning the Marianas as both an amazing golf destination and one that grows alongside the local community.”
LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort — primary filming location for the tournament and host venue of the youth clinic — served as an official sponsor of the program and co-organized the clinic. Recognized as one of the Top 100 Golf Courses in Asia-Pacific, LaoLao Bay is Saipan’s only 36-hole championship course. The resort is renowned for offering golfers a far from ordinary playing experience set against sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean.
