Dolly Pamintuan, the shop’s manager handed yesterday a well-designed jacket to NMI’s veteran referee, Arnold Mesa who is playing with Team Guam in the World Masters Olympic set to kick off on Oct. 10.
Tailored, Barbara Francisco, the suit is made of a material tough enough to protect Mesa from Sydney’s weather which veteran athletes from tropical areas of the Pacific find hard to tolerate.
In the past Masters Olympics many athletes from Guam ended up backing out because they could not stand the extreme cold.
Mesa said when they participate in the events like these, “you can not have your body fight the cold and at the same time you are competing in sports.”
Mesa is leaving on Oct. 7 for Guam where he will join 11 other members of Masters basketball team before they will go to Sydney via Philippines on Oct. 8.
He said he needed to find a sponsor in able to make it to one of the planet’s biggest sports events.
Mesa expressed gratitude to Grace Tailoring Shop for taking part in such another big opportunity for the Marianas to send one its bests to Masters Olympic.
Pamintuan for her part said this is among their ways to give back to the community.
Once again, Mesa vowed to return to Saipan as soon as the event is over, to continue his commitment to the island’s youth sports program.
