MATANSA Football Club 2 and Shirley’s Football Club 2 continue to climb the B division ladder of the Dove Women’s League Spring 2025 as they each bagged their fourth win of the season over their respective opponents at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville on Sunday.
Matansa 2 worked well under pressure, scoring a late-game goal to edge Latte Football Club 1, 3-2.
At first, LFC 1 played the role of the aggressor while MFC 2 struggled to keep up with the pressure due to a lack of defensive coverage. After nine minutes of play, LFC 1’s Yasmeen Younis connected the first goal of the match and handed her team the lead, 1-0.
LFC 1’s time in the spotlight was short-lived, however, as MFC 2 quickly bounced back and played more aggressively. With LFC 1 unable to protect its weak side, several openings were left unguarded, allowing MFC 1’s Mikaela Duenas to find the back of the net in the 15th minute to even the score at 1-1.
With the momentum on their side, MFC 2 maintained control of the tempo and continued to excel on the offensive end with Jenna Tenorio delivering her first contribution in the 22nd minute to strengthen their lead, 2-1.
LFC 1 kept their heads up and eventually regained the upper hand with the right offensive and defensive adjustments. After several attempts, they managed to break through the defensive lines and set up Charla Fitial for the finish to record the second deadlock of the match after 35 minutes of action, 2-2.
Unfortunately for LFC 1, fatigue soon followed. MFC 2’s repeated onslaught became too much to handle, creating several openings once again, this time with Caint Basa making the highlight reel as she drained her team’s third goal to put them ahead and secure their fourth win of the season, 3-2.
Shirley’s 2 vs Paire
Shirley’s Football Club 2 also collected their fourth win by outhustling Paire Football Club, 5-2.
The action started with SFC 2’s Catalina Dela Cruz and PFC’s Robin Romero exchanging goals in the 4th and 5th minutes.
SFC 2 then took over most of the action with Arah Manabat sinking back-to-back goals in the 12th and 36th minutes while Kristine Pude followed with another in the 49th minute to lead comfortably, 4-1.
PFC’s Camayah Sablan tried to stop the bleeding by scoring in the 55th minute, but this was answered by Dela Cruz’s second contribution five minutes later to seal the deal, 5-2.
