MCS notches 3rd win, beats SIS in boys fastpitch softball

MOUNT Carmel School bagged its third win by defeating Saipan International School, 16-10, in the PSS Boys High School Fastpitch Softball Tournament at the Dandan baseball field on Saturday.

Both teams put on a “walking game” as most of the runs were scored off base on balls.

SIS thrived in the top of the opening inning as their first three runs came from walks before MCS pitcher Herman Iguel adjusted his throwing arm and struck out the next two batters.

SIS pitcher Theo Joab also struggled to find the strike zone and allowed seven runs to slip by, losing the lead to MCS, 3-7.

In the top of the second inning, SIS appeared to make a comeback as additional walks contributed to six runs, allowing them to regain the lead.

However, their time in the spotlight was short-lived as MCS answered with four runs led by left fielder Minsoo Kwon to retain control, 11-9.

While SIS failed to score in the top of the third, MCS continued to ride the momentum, scoring five more runs in the bottom half to widen its lead. Although SIS still had a chance to overtake MCS, they could add only one run in the top of the fourth before accepting defeat, 10-16.
